Hello all, and welcome to Illumination Unlimited! My name is Amanda. I am a professional life coach and transformation specialist. I’ve decided to start this blog in order to introduce myself and give those interested an idea of what to expect from a coaching experience with me.
Before we get started, here are some facts about me: I am a 42-year-old mother of two daughters; ages 21 and 16. Prior to getting my life coaching certification, I worked in property management for multi-family housing for 15 years (non-consecutive due to spending time in between as a stay-at-home mom). Many aspects of my life have prepared me for my current endeavor. As the old saying goes; “I was born in the briar patch” I am a survivor of severe child abuse, neglect and trauma. I was ruthlessly bullied at school as a child. As a young adult, I looked for love in all the wrong places and found a world of heartache. I went through a brutal divorce that still isn’t amicable (not by my choice) over ten years after the fact. I know too well the struggles of trying to co-parent with a narcissist! I found love again and was remarried in 2018, only to tragically lose him to pancreatic cancer in January 2021.
“How, after all of that, can you possibly be of help to others?” one might ask… Because I went through ALL of that, and each time have found a way to persevere and keep moving forward. I’ve had many moments where I didn’t think I would make it out of the darkness, and then the right person would show up at the right time to light my path just when I needed it. I want to be the one to light the path for others.
I honestly thought the loss of my husband was the final straw for me. I had somehow managed to get back up from every single blow life had delivered me up until that point, but this time I thought I was finally done. After what can only be described as a “dark night of the soul”, I woke up one morning with the realization that if I were going to keep going in this world, I absolutely had to find a deeper purpose and do something meaningful with the time I have left here. At the time, I wasn’t even sure where to begin. I decided to ask the universe and wait to see how it would answer.
Not long after this epiphany, a very good friend suggested that I would make a great life coach. It was like a lightbulb switched on... It made so much sense! As an emotional empath, I have always possessed a deep desire to help others. Even as a child, I was the one to offer advice and kind words to anyone I thought needed it. I have the natural ability to “read” people and get to know them on a personal level so that I can easily meet them where they are. In order to survive my own life, I’ve worked with therapists myself as well as having done extensive research on human psychology and spirituality. When my own therapist told me he thought it was a great idea and that I should go for it, I decided to move forward and see where this road takes me.
Since then, everything has lined up perfectly and is falling into place as I go. I found a great certification program and finished it two months early. A podcast is in the works, so make sure to check back for updates on that. I was beyond blessed to find love again and have an amazing partner in my life. Brandon is empathic, intelligent, beyond supportive and a huge part of why I've made it as far as I have up to this point. Anyone following me will get to know him very well in the near future as he will be joining me in my endeavors!!
I am currently offering virtual sessions at reduced prices. As an introductory special, I am offering one free 45-minute (virtual) session to all potential clients! In this session, we’ll get to know each other and talk about your life. We’ll discuss areas of focus, and possible options for improvement.
